§ Mr. Hattersley,pursuant to his supplementary reply to MR. MADDEN [OFFICIAL REPORT, 22nd May 1974; Vol. 874, c. 353], gave the following information:
I understand that members of the European Assembly receive the following subsistence and travelling expenses for attendances at meetings of the Assembly and of its Committees:
- (i) Daily subsistence: 2,500 Belgian francs (about £27.50 at current rates of exchange)
- (ii) Travelling expenses: 11 Belgian francs (about 12 pence) for each of the first 400 kilometers; 3 Belgian francs (about 3.3 pence) for each subsequent kilometer.
