§ Mr. McCuskerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will indicate whether recent increases in RUC pay and the decision to make a special 196W danger money allowance will be reflected in the payment of members of the police reserve.
§ Mr. Merlyn ReesFull-time members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve will automatically receive the increases in police pay recently agreed; remuneration for part-time members is currently under review. Danger money is not being negotiated. An allowance to recognise arduous circumstances and special difficulties faced by the RUC is presently under negotiation in the Police Council but I understand agreement has not yet been reached.
