HC Deb 30 July 1974 vol 878 cc178-9W
Dr. Winstanley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many pharmacists were under contract to the executive councils, making up what is now the North-Western Regional Health Authority, during each of the years 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1974; and what is the corresponding number now under contract to the new authorities covering the same area.

Dr. Owen

Pharmacists and companies own varying numbers of pharmacies. The number of pharmacies on the lists of the executive councils for the areas now wholly or mainly in the area of the North-Western Regional Health Authority was, at 31st December of each year:

1970 1,057
1971 1,026
1972 1,004
1973 968

The number on the lists of family practitioner committees is not yet centrally available.

Dr. Winstanley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services, if she will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT a table
