HC Deb 30 July 1974 vol 878 cc139-40W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether the median line has been established with the French Govern- ment covering the western approaches bearing in mind the configuration of British islands in the Channel area.

Mr. Ennals

I have been asked to reply.

The hon. Member will be aware that my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister stated in answer to a Question on 23rd July that, at his meeting with the French President on 19th July, it was agreed that the problem over the delimitation of the Continental Shelf in the Western Approaches should be settled by impartial arbitration. The position of islands is obviously relevant in the delimitation of Continental Shelf boundaries.
