HC Deb 30 July 1974 vol 878 cc152-3W
Mr. McCrindle

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer (1) if he will consider introducing regulations permitting a spouse to have sight of her, or his, spouse's tax declaration on application at a local tax office;

(2) if, in the light of the imminent introduction of legislation on sex equality, he will seek powers to require a tax declaration on behalf of a husband and wife to be signed by both of them.

Dr. Gilbert

I have noted the hon. Gentleman's suggestions. I do not, however, consider that either of them would necessarily achieve the object I believe he has in mind.
