HC Deb 30 July 1974 vol 878 c163W
Mr. MacCormick

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will take steps to restore the mileage allowance payable to doctors in the Argyll and Clyde Health Board area to its former level.

Mr. William Ross

The rates of mileage allowance payable to some general practitioners in the Argyll and Clyde Health Board area since 1st April have been lower than the rates payable before that date because the local medical committees concerned failed to submit a revised mileage distribution scheme to take account of the reorganisation of the National Health Service. The health board has been informed that if a revised scheme is now put forward and approved it will be given effect retrospectively from 1st April.
