HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 c42W
Mr. Adam Hunter

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if, when the United Kingdom Chemical Information Service was appointed as consultants to his Department, he considered or had representation from other units in the United Kingdom already working in the field in question; and if he will make a statement;

(2) how much public money has been spent or approved for the United Kingdom Chemical Information Service to work for his Department.

Mr. Denis Howell

Contracts with the United Kingdom Chemical Information Service involve a total expenditure of about £127,000 over a period of five years. This body is one of several working with the Department on environmental information systems and was chosen after careful consideration of the particular expertise required.
