asked the Secretary of State for Wales what were the estimated costs and effect of the three-day week on the Welsh economy.

It is not possible to separate the effect on Wales from other economic and industrial factors affecting the country as a whole. Recent figures, available only on a United Kingdom basis, show that in the first quarter of 1974 the Index of Industrial Production stood at 103–1970–100—compared with 110.4, 109.4, 110.3 and 109.2 in the four quarters of 1973.
