HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 c33W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy whether the Government are prepared to provide incentives to encourage small British companies to maintain their contribution to the development of North Sea oil.

Mr. Varley

I do not think that special incentives for particular categories of companies to engage in offshore petroleum activities are necessary or desirable. However, I welcome the contribution which British companies, large and small, can make to the North Sea effort.
