HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 cc52-3W
Mr. Tyler

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the total sum advanced to public and private tenants by way of rent rebates and allowances and supplementary benefit for housing purposes for the latest available period of 12 months; and what was the number of households which benefited.

Mr. Freeson

Rent rebates and allowances in England totalled about £160 million in 1973–74. Just under 2 million households benefited. The comparable figures relating to supplementary benefit are not available in the form requested.
