asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what loans have been made by the European Investment Bank towards financing the production of North Sea oil and gas in the United Kingdom sector; and for which particular projects.

The European Investment Bank has made one loan, for the equivalent of £10.4 million to three companies holding production licences for the United Kingdom sector of the Frigg gas field. The loan is to help finance the construction of extraction installations.
