HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 c6W
Mr. Jeffrey Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Wales when will the Commission for Local Administration in Wales be appointed.

Mr. John Morris

Her Majesty the Queen has approved my recommendation, following consultation with the Representative Body for Wales, that Mr. Dafydd Jones-Williams, OBE, MC, TD, DL, be appointed Local Commissioner for Wales. Mr. Jones-Williams will be taking up his appointment at a date to be announced, when the Commission for Local Administration in Wales—the machinery for investigating complaints alleging maladministration by local authorities and water authorities—will come into formal existence.
