HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 c8W
23. Mr. Redmond

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what plans he has designed to ensure that the United Kingdom industry obtains maximum benefit from the European Regional Fund.

Mr. Heffer

The European Regional Development Fund has still to be established. In any negotiations about it the British Government will take fully into account the interests of United Kingdom industry.

26. Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether his Department is preparing a list of projects for submission in due course to the EEC with a view to obtaining aid from the regional fund.

Mr. Heffer

No. This would be premature until broad agreement has been reached on how such a fund would work. As the House is aware, the Government are engaged in renegotiating the terms of entry into the EEC.
