HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 cc6-7W
18. Mr. Michael McNair-Wilson

asked the Secretary of State for Industry if he will make a further statement on Concorde.

25. Mr. Adley

asked the Secretary of State for Industry when he intends to make a statement on the future of Concorde.

Mr. Benn

In his reply to the hon. Member for Blackpool, South (Mr. Blaker) on 23rd July my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister said that he had agreed with the French President that the 16 aircraft whose production had already been authorised should go ahead, but no further commitment was made.

Dr. Phipps

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what has been the cost to date of the Concorde project expressed in 1974 prices.

Mr. Meacher

The United Kingdom share of the costs of the Concorde project to date is approximately £880 million at March 1974 prices. This figure includes development and production costs, as well as the costs of intramural work in Government establishments. Up-to-date French costs on the same basis are not available, but they are believed to be broadly equivalent.
