HC Deb 29 July 1974 vol 878 cc4-5W
Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the cost of exhibiting the A55 expressway model at Colwyn Bay on 18th July; how many persons attended the exhibition; and how many Welsh Office representatives were present.

Mr. John Morris

One Welsh Office official attended a meeting with officers of the Colwyn Civic Society at Colwyn Bay on 15th July at which the A55 model was used. There was virtually no cost to the Department as the officer concerned was also attending other meetings in the area and the model is normally stored at Colwyn Bay.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how many residents of Penmaenmawr attended the recent exhibition of the A55 expressway model at Llanfairfechan and Conwy.

Mr. John Morris

The addresses of persons attending these exhibitions were not sought, hence it is not possible to say how many were resident in Penmaenmawr. An exhibition will be mounted in Penmaenmawr in September.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what was the cost and the attendance figures per diem of the recent public exhibitions of the A55 expressway model at each of these towns: Llanfairfechan, Conwy and Colwyn Bay.

Mr. John Morris

The daily attendance figures were as follows:

Date Number of persons attending
Llanfairfechan 29th May 1974 920
30th May 1974 860
Conwy 21st May 1974 1,650
22nd May 1974 2,010
23rd May 1974 1,230
Colwyn Bay 14th May 1974 980

16th May 1974 1,400
17th May 1974 1,570
18th May 1974 910

Public exhibitions form part of the preparatory work on highway schemes and the costs incurred are not separately apportioned.
