HC Deb 26 July 1974 vol 877 cc596-7W
Mr. Boyden

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what representations he has had from the telecommunications industry on Merseyside about the possible loss of employment opportunities arising from the cutback in Post Office expenditure.

Mr. Gregor Mackenzie

I have had representations from the firms involved and their trade unions. The effect on employment on Merseyside was one of the factors taken into account by the Government in deciding to reduce the cut in Post Office investment for the second half of 1974–75.
