HC Deb 26 July 1974 vol 877 cc583-4W
Mr. Waddington

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has received the outline plan for the Central Lancashire New Town; if a public inquiry has been arranged; and if, pending receipt of the inspector's report, he is able to comment on any of the proposals in the plan.

Mr. Oakes

The Central Lancashire New Town outline plan was received by my right hon. Friend on 4th June 1974 and a public inquiry had been arranged to begin on 17th September. However, after taking into account the views expressed during the debate on the Adjournment of 4th July, I have decided to defer the start of the public inquiry until 5th November. I cannot anticipate my right hon. Friend's decision on the plan by commenting on any of its proposals.
