18. Mr. George Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland in how many cases the British Government have paid sums of money to persons interrogated in depth in Northern Ireland; and what is the total of these sums.

So far in three of these cases settlements have been effected; the total of the sums paid to date is £25,500 exclusive of costs which Her Majesty's Government are bearing.
