§ 49. Mr. Jeffrey Archerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on his policy towards planning national transport.
§ Mr. MulleyThe Government have shown in the provisions of the Railways Bill that they attach importance to the development of public transport. I announced on 17th June, in reply to a Question from my hon. Friend the Member for Rhondda (Mr. Jones)—[Vol. 875, c.68.9]—my proposals for the national road network. At a more local level, county councils, which are now responsible for the planning of transport provision in their areas, are submitting their transport policies and programmes this month.
