asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science when he expects to be in a position to give the results of the Department's survey on violence and indiscipline in schools.

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether any arrangements are being made to provide instruction in teacher training colleges on methods of dealing with cases of indiscipline.

Mr. Gerry Fowler

The maintenance of order and good behaviour rests essentially on the relationship between teacher and pupils. The study of these relationships is an important element of initial teacher training courses, and teacher practice within the course provides the necessary test of experience.

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what statistics he has relating to acts of violence in primary, middle and high schools.
