§ Mr. Alexander W. Lyon11 foreign nationals who have applied for political asylum since 4th March 1974 have been allowed to remain in the United Kingdom. They comprised one Czech, one Dominican, one Filipino, one Pole, two Romanians, three Russians, one South African and one Turk. As our response to the appeal from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, we have since 4th March 1974 agreed to resettle 264 applicants from Chile.

§ Mr. Alexander W. LyonIn 1973, 34 foreign nationals who applied for political 451W asylum were allowed to remain in the United Kingdom. They comprised one Bulgarian, 10 Czechs, seven Hungarians, twelve Poles, two Romanians, one South African and one Turk. As our response to the appeal from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees we agreed in 1973 to resettle 71 applicants from Chile.
The corresponding figures for the period from 1st January 1974 to 3rd March 1974 are seven—three Poles, three Romanians, one South African—and 28.
