HC Deb 23 July 1974 vol 877 cc431-2W
Q19. Dr. Edmund Marshall

asked the Prime Minister whether he will recommend the setting up of a Royal Commission to investigate the effects of advertising on the life of the nation.

The Prime Minister

I have at present no plans to do so. However, my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Prices and Consumer Protection has already expressed publicly the Government's concern about some effects of advertising and, in conjunction with the Director General of Fair Trading, is considering proposals for improving the control of advertising.
