§ Mr. Adam Butlerasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will ascertain how many local authorities are giving rate relief to sports clubs; what proportion this represents of the total number of authorities: and if he will take steps to encourage all authorities to act in this way.
§ Mr. OakesMy hon. Friend the Minister of State with responsibility for sport and recreation has asked the Sports Council to collect this information and until it is available I cannot say how many authorities use their discretion in this way. When he receives the information he will consider whether the situation calls for any action.
