HC Deb 22 July 1974 vol 877 c352W
Mr. Grylls

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what was the total amount paid in corporation tax by the pharmaceutical industry in the years 1970 to 1973, inclusive.

Dr. Gilbert

I regret that I do not have information for the pharmaceutical industry as such. For the chemical, oil and allied trades as a whole—Orders IV and V of the 1968 Standard Industrial Classification—the estimated corporation tax charged was £106 million for 1968, £123 million for 1969 and £107 million for 1970, the latest year for which reliable estimates are available.
