§ Mr. Hooleyasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (1) whether Her Majesty's Government have made any recommendations to the Secretary-General of the UN about the representation of the Palestinians at the Geneva Conference on the Middle East;
(2) whether Her Majesty's Government have held discussions with Egypt, Syria and Jordan about the representation of the Palestinians at the Geneva Conference on the Middle East.
§ Mr. EnnalsAs my right hon. Friend made clear to the House on 19th March 870, c. 870–1]—Her Majesty's Government believe that there will be no permanent peace in the Middle East unless a settlement provides for a "personality" for the Palestinian people. It is our view that the question of representation at the Geneva conference is for the parties to that conference to decide amongst themselves.
