HC Deb 22 July 1974 vol 877 c378W
Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment when he anticipates that the first stretch of the Ml motorway will be completed and the dates when further sections will be opened to traffic.

Mr. Carmichael

The section of the M 11 motorway from south of Harlow to the A120 near Bishops Stortford should be completed in the summer of 1975 and that from Redbridge to Loughton in the following summer. The contract for the length from Loughton to south of Harlow should be let by the end of this year and it is expected that two years will be allowed for construction. The programme for the remaining length from Bishop's Stortford to Stump Cross is under review.
