§ Dr. GilbertIf it were decided to raise additional amounts of income tax equal to that part of the cost of the services mentioned at present borne by local authorities, income tax rates would have to be increased by the following amounts: education, 4.2p; and, as I told my hon. Friend the Member for Newton (Mr. Evans) on 4th July—fire services, 0.15p; police force, 0.6p.
