HC Deb 22 July 1974 vol 877 cc355-6W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the present position with regard to the condition of Killynether Castle, County Down; and how much has been spent on the maintenance of the castle by the Government in each year since it came into the care of the Government.

Mr. Orme

Killynether Castle was demolished some years ago; no Government moneys were spent on its maintenance. The lands are the property of the National Trust, from which the Government have leased them since 1972.

Dr. Gilbert

For 1973–74, the latest year for which complete information is available, the estimate is about £15 million.
