HC Deb 22 July 1974 vol 877 c332W
Mr. Ridsdale

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science if he will include in his next programme of approved building starts the new infants' school to replace the Bathside School, Harwich.

Mr. Armstrong

My right hon. Friend said in his reply to a Question by the hon. Member for Newham, South (Mr. Spearing) last Tuesday that a reserve had been held back from the lump sum allocations for school building in 1974–75 to enable a limited number of primary school improvement and replacement projects to go ahead in areas of special need. It is for the Essex education authority to decide whether the Bathside replacement project should be proposed for inclusion in this programme.
