§ Mr. Maddenasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement on threshold agreements for low-paid workers whose minimum wage rates are determined by wages councils.
§ Mr. Harold WalkerThe present position is that seven threshold agreements are operating in the wages councils sector, and a further 25 councils are in process of introducing such arrangements. Wages councils are increasingly reaching settlements which include threshold provisions.
