Mr. Churchill

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many NHS beds there are in hospitals in the North-West; and how many of these were occupied by private patients on the last date for which figures are available.

In the year ending 31st December 1973 in the hospitals now administered by the North-Western Regional Health Authority there were 35,413 beds of which the average daily occupancy by private patients was 193.
