asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many geriatric beds there are in the health service.

In 1973 there were 56,184 geriatric beds available in England.

hospital treatment services as well as improving existing services. Five new units have so far been opened and a further four have been approved. This will make a total of 26 units.
