HC Deb 19 July 1974 vol 877 cc283-4W
Dr. John A. Cunningham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what action he proposes to take following receipt of the report by Sir Robert Matthew and Mr. Skillington on the quality of architectural design in his Department.

Mr. Crosland

I am most grateful to Sir Robert Matthew and Mr. Skillington for the work they have done in preparing their report, which will materially assist the Department in considering how greater stress can be laid on the quality of architectural design.

While it was not intended for publication I have, in view of the public interest already shown, decided that those closely interested in the report and its conclusions should have the opportunity to comment, before final decisions are taken. With the agreement of the authors arrangements have, therefore, been made for it to be sent to a number of interested bodies, including professional institutions and technical journals. I am also arranging for a copy to be placed in the Library.
