asked the Minister for the Civil Service whether he will make a statement on the report of the task force on the interchange of scientists, chaired by Sir Hermann Bondi.

This useful report is being published today. The Government will be consulting the various bodies concerned as to its conclusions and recommendations. We accept the principle that interchange of scientists between employing sectors is desirable; and in line with the task force's recommendations we have already set up a small unit in the Civil Service Department with the exclusive task of promoting such interchange.
