HC Deb 18 July 1974 vol 877 c236W
Mr. Tebbit

asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many temporary and agency staff are currently employed to produce the substitute issues of Order Papers and official reports of proceedings of the Houses; what is the cost to public funds of such staff; what are the categories or grades of such staff and the average emoluments paid to members of each grade or category; to which unions such staff are required to belong; and if any such staff are expected to cross union picket lines.

Mr. Robert Sheldon

Such numbers of agency typists and office workers are employed as are necessary to produce papers needed by Parliament each day. The fee paid to the agency concerned is around £8,000 a week. The pay and terms of employment of the staff are matters for the agency.
