HC Deb 18 July 1974 vol 877 c267W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Secretary for Trade what representations have been made to the American Government to obtain the necessary approval for the operation by Laker Airways of its Sky-train service following the approval of the company as a properly designated operation by the United States Civil Aeronautics Board five months ago.

Mr. Clinton Davis

Following designation of Laker Airways in February 1973, formal representations were made on four occasions in 1973 for a foreign air carrier permit to be issued by the United States authorities. In March 1974 an administrative law judge recommended in favour of Laker's application and further approaches have since been made by Her Majesty's Embassy in Washington and by my Department.
