asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many males and females were registered as unemployed at the Bexhill, Hailsham and Rye employment exchanges on 15th July 1974; and how many of these were over 55 years of age, under 18 years of age and school leavers, respectively.

The industry's future manpower requirements depend on future levels of productivity. The Interim Report of the Coal Industry Examination discusses the factors limiting current production from existing manpower and other resources below the target rate of 120 million tons of deep-mined coal a year. The National Coal Board recognises the importance of obtaining and retaining skilled manpower.
