HC Deb 17 July 1974 vol 877 c133W
2. Mr. Dalyell

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on his current discussions and initiatives with Third World countries on the extension of British nuclear expertise to such countries for peaceful purposes.

Mr. Ennals

As a party to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) we have undertaken to facilitate the fullest possible exchange of equipment, materials and scientific and technological information for peaceful purposes in this field. We do this both in bilateral exchanges with many countries and as a contributor to the technical assistance programme of the International Atomic Energy (IAEA). We require IAEA safeguards on all nuclear material we supply to non-nuclear weapon States.
