HC Deb 17 July 1974 vol 877 cc183-4W
46. Mr. Dempsey

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if she will give details showing the numbers of British emigrants returning from Australia, New Zealand, and Canada, respectively, for the past year; and if she will make a statement.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

No information is available on the number of emigrants from the United Kingdom who subsequently return but from the International Passenger Survey it is estimated that in 1973 the numbers of United Kingdom passport holders who entered the United Kingdom after having previously resided in Australia, Canada and New Zealand for more than one year were 21,000, 4,200 and 3,500 respectively.
