HC Deb 17 July 1974 vol 877 c195W
Mr. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many men and women, aged 80 years or over, are currently in receipt of pensions in Scotland under the National Insurance (Old Persons' and Widows' Pensions) Act.

Mr. Robert C. Brown

It is estimated that in November 1973 there were 1,700 men and 7,900 women aged 80 or over in receipt of old persons' pensions in Scotland. It is not possible to say how many of these pensions were awarded under the National Insurance (Old Persons' and Widows' Pensions and Attendance Allowance) Act 1970 and how many under the National Insurance Act 1971.
