HC Deb 17 July 1974 vol 877 cc178-9W
Mr. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many local authority, SSHA, and private houses, respectively, were built in Clackmannanshire for each of the years 1970, 1971 and 1972.

Mr. William Ross

I would refer the hon. Member to the figures published in the Housing Return for Scotland at 31st December in each of the years in question.

Mr. Reid

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many households there are in Scotland which have (1) no hot water and (2) no fixed bath; and if he will list these in terms of one, two, three, four and five and other person households.

Mr. William Ross

The information from the 1971 Census is as follows:

NUMBER OF HOUSEHOLDS—SCOTLAND
Number of persons in household No hot water supply No fixed bath or shower
1 47,790 70,755
2 34,925 66,110
3 16,995 32,925
4 10,145 18,850
5 or more 10,035 15,770
Total households 119,890 204,410

Mr. D. E. Thomas

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what is the number of households in Scotland with below the standard number of bedrooms; and whether he will express this as a percentage of the total number of households in Scotland.

Mr. William Ross

It is estimated from a sample survey that there are about 200,000 households in Scotland with below the standard number of bedrooms, and this is 12 per cent. of the total households.
