HC Deb 16 July 1974 vol 877 c127W
Mr. Richard Wainwright

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment on what date his Department received a deputation including local authority representatives covering the Colne Valley and the hon. Member for Colne Valley on the effects of his distribution of the domestic element of the rate support grant; and approximately how long this meeting lasted.

Mr. Oakes

I received a deputation on 25th March. The meeting lasted about an hour. I also visited the area and had further discussions with the Kirklees District Council on 17th June.

Mr. Churchill

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what annual rate of inflation he allowed for in the financial year 1974–75 when he introduced his rate support grant order of 25th March 1974; what is now his estimate; and if he proposes to introduce a supplementary rate support grant order.

Mr. Crosland

The rate support grant order for 1974–75 was made at November 1973 prices. In the usual course of events, an increase order is made which takes account of actual pay and price movements which have taken place since the original main order.
