Mr. Whitlock

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science for what items he has approved capital expenditure to start in 1974–75 for each of the polytechnics; what is the amount of expenditure involved; and what proportion of it is for work deferred from 1973–74.

Polytechnic projects at an estimated total cost of the order of £14 million, of which about 85 per cent. relates to work originally included in the 1973–74 building programme, have been approved in principle to start in 1974–75. The list is as follows:
