Colonel Sir Harwood Harrison

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what is his estimate of the total amount of compensation paid to local government officers for loss of employment as a result of the local government reforms, 1974–75.

On the information at present available and taking into account the experience of reorganisation in London, it seems unlikely that many local government officers will lose employment as a result of reorganisation. It is not possible to estimate the amount of compensation likely to be paid in respect of this loss, as compensation depends on
