asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the number of households in Wales with below standard number of bedrooms; and whether he will express this as a percentage of the total number of households in Wales.

I presume that the hon. Member is referring to the definition of the bedroom standard given in the publication "The Housing Situation in 1960" by P. G. Gray and R Russell, Social Survey SS319, p. 75. Using this definition it is estimated that in 1972 about 50,000 households, representing 5 per cent. of all households in Wales, have a below standard number of bedrooms.
