asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he intends to seek support from EEC funds for the construction of the Channel Tunnel and its rail link to London and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mulley

The only source of such funds which is currently being considered is the European Investment Bank, which has expressed its willingness in principle to consider making funds available for the Channel Tunnel project.
