HC Deb 15 July 1974 vol 877 cc41-2W
Mr. Ashton

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what inquiries the Alkali and Clean Air Inspectorate has made into the complaint by Notts County Council into the dust and noise created by the drying plant at the Notts Crop Driers Ltd. factory at Nisson near Doncaster, and whether he will make a statement.

Mr. Denis Howell

The Alkali and Clean Air Inspectorate has no responsibilities at these works. Powers of control under the Public Health Act 1936 and the Noise Abatement Act 1960 rest with the Bassetlaw District Council but the district alkali inspector is ready to give advice about the dust problem should he be asked by the council to do so.
