HC Deb 15 July 1974 vol 877 c12W
54. Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what daily output of gas from the English basin in the North Sea will be required to meet anticipated demand by 1980.

Mr. Strang

To meet expected premium demand in 1980 as well as to allow for some short-term sales in the non-premium market will require an average supply from the North Sea of about 6,000 million cubic feet per day. Southern basin fields should be able to supply up to about 60 per cent. of this amount.
