HC Deb 15 July 1974 vol 877 c1W
15. Mr. Hordern

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will make a statement about the export of textiles from Hong Kong into the European Communities.

Mr. Deakins

The European Community takes nearly 40 per cent. of Hong Kong's textile exports. In Community discussions on access arrangements for textiles from the developing countries, including Hong Kong, the United Kingdom is seeking liberal terms which would have full regard to the objectives of the Multifibre Textile Arrangement and to the objectives of its renegotiation of the terms of United Kingdom membership of the EEC.
