asked the Minister for the Civil Service how many civil servants are employed in the Civil Service over the ordinary retirement age of 60 years for women and 65 years for men.

At 1st January 1974 there were 6,550 male non-industrial civil servants aged 65 or over and 12,300 women aged 60 or over; 450 of the men and 2,250 of the women were part-time workers. No information is available centrally about the age distribution of industrial civil servants.
